Prayer in Public Schools

Successes, Failures, and Consequences

Contrary to the Santa Fe ISD vs. Jane Doe case being decided, the debate of prayer in public schools is still very active.  There have been numerous cases over this highly debatable topic, and the outcome was always the same. No student-led, student-initiated prayer at sporting events for a public school. Which side would you take if you could choose? There are key concepts to any debate, vital to the trial, and also the schools and people involved. Successes, failures, and consequences are derived from these important facts and opinions that play a key role in determining the outcome of the Court cases. In this particular debate, Santa Fe vs. Doe, the successes are that children would feel more at home when they are at school, and feel more comfortable in their learning environment, causing them to be more open to listening and learning. The failures of the debate would be that some children would feel forced into a religion causing them to fall behind or drop out of school . Lastly, the case would result in consequences, the children feeling hostile in their own learning environment, or they won't be able to express themselves religiously.
